Model Description

The Thuraya XT satellite phone is the latest model from satellite communication operator Thuraya. The device is based on the well-proven previous model SO-2510. The Thuraya XT stands out from the previous model with its dust and water protection, shockproof body, reworked menu, and longer battery life — all the most important qualities for a satellite phone have been improved.

When compared to similar models, the Thuraya XT has good durability, dust and water protection, and a high-capacity battery. The protection standard for this Thuraya model is IP54/IK03.

This means the device is protected from dust and water penetration, as well as from drops and minor impacts, but you still cannot submerge the phone in water or hit it with a hammer. The screen has anti-glare glass and is protected from minor scratches.

The device is equipped with a built-in brightness sensor, which, combined with the 2-inch screen, improves reading information from the screen in any weather conditions. The size is also pleasing — despite its functionality, it measures 128 x 53 x 26.5 mm, which is a good plus for traveling users.

Email and SMS transmission is carried out using GmPRS packet data transmission. Data sending speed is 15 KB/s, and receiving is 60 KB/s.

As already mentioned, the battery has been reworked and improved, as a result of which the Thuraya XT works for 6 hours in talk mode, and in standby mode the phone can last up to 80 hours without recharging. According to the manufacturer's assurances, the transceiver has been modernized, which has very positively affected the quality of communication.
