This year Iridium introduced a new service — Iridium Push to Talk (PTT) satellite radio. The service allows you to use a modified Iridium 9575 Extreme as a walkie-talkie anywhere in the world.

Iridium Push to Talk takes group communications to a new level, turning the most rugged and multifunctional satellite phone into a simple and reliable radio.

To use Iridium PTT you need:

  • Iridium 9575 PTT satellite phone
  • Choose a tariff plan with the appropriate coverage area
  • Activate the phone and join a subscriber group

    The cost depends on the required coverage area (which can be divided into smaller zones) and one of two tariff plans.

    Management of coverage zones and subscriber groups is done through a convenient online interface.

    Iridium PTT Command Center

    A regular Iridium 9575 Extreme cannot be reflashed for PTT. A special modified 9575 PTT model is required.
